Young Residence

The owner of this beautiful home nestled up in the picturesque Southern Highlands wanted both the main bathroom and ensuite to be renovated. The remainder of the home had been newly renovated so the bathrooms were looking pretty tired in comparison. The home is of a traditional style with a hint of the country farmhouse making an appearance. We were able to create a timeless and elegant look in both rooms with our careful selections of fittings and finishes. The main attraction would have to be the incredible Italian timber look porcelain tiles. Each tile has a varied pattern which truly makes it hard to pick that it’s actually porcelain.

We used a bone white coloured tile on the walls which aids in making this space feel very warm and cosy. The custom made joinery and dark stone benchtops add plenty of storage and help breakup the space with added colour and texture. No detail was spared with beautiful formed tapware and accessories selected to ensure they too match the overall looking we were wishing to achieve.

"Having moved to a new home in the Southern Highlands last year, I wished to renovate the two dated bathrooms in the house.Being on my own and no real assistance available in the immediate area to assist me with design etc, I was delighted to meet Sarah Nolen from Birdblack Design at the Bowral Home Show last year.

Having looked at her portfolio and the diverse work she had undertaken, I decided to engage her services to assist me because really I had very little idea of what was available these days.

Sarah came to my home, discussed my ideas and went away to draw plans and suggestions for me.

Her response was quick and detailed. Further meetings followed which culminated in extensive and detailed plans for builders to quote and follow as well as great assistance with selection of all tiles and fittings.

The finished project is amazing and has transformed my home in many aspects thanks largely to Sarah’s experience and ideas she brought to me. I could not have done this and got the fabulous result without her.

Like any project, there were minor hiccups encountered, it was how Sarah handled these matters is probably what impressed me the most. She took immediate ownership (even though they weren’t necessarily her doing) and acted quickly and decisively to find a solution – truly an unexpected but highly appreciated bonus which is not often experienced these days. Her total professionalism coupled with her delightful demeanour made the whole experience an absolute pleasure. I would gladly use her expertise again and unreservedly recommend her to anyone."
