Trending: Spring and Summer 2020/2021

Well, well, well – what a year 2020 has been. What started off with bushfires in Australia, then floods and then, well we all know what came after that! But we have made it to SPRING! And Spring means NEW LIFE, and we all could use a little reminder that all is not entirely lost, so without further ado, let’s dive straight into (pun intended) the Spring and Summer Trends for 2020/2021.

THE GREAT OUTDOORS
Given that we have truly spent the last 9-12months inside (depending on when the bushfires started near you), without a shadow of a doubt, this Spring and Summer is all about being outside. In the fresh air, getting Vitamin D, and just being outside!

From outside lounges, to small patio furniture, to the full kit and caboodle outdoor Kitchen and Alfresco Dining, everything is focused on outdoors.

HOME BARS
Nope, we are not even joking! Given isolation, quarantines, and the fact that we are serving ourselves triple shot EVERYTHING, Home Bars have just become the hottest commodity. It also means having our nearest and dearest around, which is fabulous for making memories in the comfort of our own homes.

COLOURS
Moving right along into colours, again we are inviting the outdoors in and focusing on nature’s own as inspiration. We are seeing lots of citrus colours: with lemon yellows and tangerines; plenty of stone-fruit pinks and peaches, and of course all the lovely blues and greens: from pastel blue to royals and navies; mint greens to lovely limes and emerald. It’s time to bring all that colour in and come ALIVE again!

FINISHES
Brass tapware and accessories, along with brushed golds are still in for this season, pairing perfectly with the incoming colour trends. Nickel and gunmetal are coming through as the next big trend, so keep your eyes peeled for more of those touches too.

THE LITTLE EXTRAS
The little extras can go a loooong way to refreshing your home, workplace or commercial venture. New furniture: lounges, dining tables, alfresco suites; to bedroom and bathroom linens; to cushions and throws; to greenery and plant life. Maybe this year has been rough financially. We get that! It hasn’t been smooth sailing for anyone around the globe, so maybe you can’t renovate your entire home. Maybe you wish you could, but you just can’t. That’s okay! Start off small. Start with linens and decorative pieces and greenery. You will be AMAZED at what Birdblack Design can achieve by adding a few new pieces and rearranging existing pieces to bring you a whole new floorplan, aesthetic and homely feel. Check out our Furniture Curation Package to have the refresh you need to get you through the rest of the year.
