Humble beginnings has never been a truer statement when looking back on the office that Birdblack Design began in. It was the size of shoebox and filled to the brim with samples and equipment. What a breath of fresh air our new studio affords us.
We purchased this home with the vision of having a separate space that the studio could be located in. This was a dream find as the entire lower level is now dedicated to our working design studio. We knocked down the internal walls to open the floorspace up which now allows us comfortable space for multiple workstations, our sample library, meeting table and storage. The old bathroom was stripped out and replaced with all new tiles and fittings. Everything in this room plays on a classic black and white style. It was important for us to incorporate a kitchenette which tucks in towards the back of the office.
Given we’re designers, we had to go bold with our colour choices. The abstract wallpaper mural wraps around the two windows and draws your attention immediately as you walk in the door. The remaining walls complement the base colour with a dark cobalt blue.
The floors tiles are porcelain with a natural limestone look to them. They lighten the area and allow the practicality of easy cleaning. All of the joinery is consistent with ebony and oak timber tones.
We absolutely love working in this space on a daily basis. If you have an inspiring vision for your own office space and need our help, then get in touch.
