This project is a full home renovation: completely stripped out and restarted. The process included installing new walls, creating new rooms and zoning new spaces.
Our clients have a growing family and absolutely adore entertaining so creating spaces that were functional for the family on the daily but were also excellent entertaining spaces was imperative. We also added extra special rooms in ‘Cato Place’ like a Mudroom, Study nook and a Butler’s Pantry to assist the family organisation and entertainment desires.
As our clients desired a contemporary bespoke home, we utilised a variety of colours, materials and textures which ooze luxury and impeccable taste. From stunning brass to mosaic tiles to natural marble, from natural leather bedheads and drawer pulls to plush rugs and a warm fireplace to secret walk-in Butler’s Pantry & wine fridge, this home is simply divine. With ample storage, extra power points for the kids’ laptops; the family’s entertaining space is exquisitely functional for everyday living for a growing family with school age children.
Due to the pre-existing warm auburn tones of the Spotted Gum timber flooring and terracotta roofing tiles, we continued this terracotta colour theme within the new renovation. Paired with gorgeous black and white elements, the sporadic touches of terracotta and brass not only warmed up the interior, but brought continuity and harmony throughout.
We simply must make mention of the stunning trimless gas fireplace located in the formal sitting room. The fireplace sits amongst a fabulous hand-cut mosaic tiled wall, adding a brilliant textural effect to the space. Above sits a gorgeous brass mirror bringing the structural element. This formal sitting room defines both class and comfort.
The Master Bedroom is also spectacular. A stunning custom tan bedhead ticks all the boxes of approval. The natural texture of leather is beautiful. The Master Bedroom also features a gorgeous dresser. Tan leather pulls, spotted gum and white joinery with white v-groove panelling make a breathtaking combination of materials and textures. This dresser is the perfect location for applying makeup and styling hair; the perfect spot for that much needed “Me Time” for our client.
Birdblack Design love utilising every inch of space available whilst creating minimalistic, spacious designs, it is quite the art form. Of course, practicality isn’t the only design factor. It is essential to keep the home’s overall style in mind: ensuring the colours, materials and finishes flow seamlessly throughout the spaces.
A note from the owners:
Working with Sarah and her team was easy. All questions and concerns were always responded to quickly. We love our new space, especially the built to measure carpentry pieces with lots of storage which was an important part of our brief. Seeing it finished, it all flows and fits well together. The team did a fabulous job design-wise and the workmanship is great.
